The National Archives of India, a sentinel of
nation's documentary heritage was entrusted in 2002 with the
task of co-ordination and implementation of the work pertaining to preparation
of National Register of Jain Manuscripts. Five Nodal Agencies were selected to
search and catalogue the Jain Manuscripts throughout India.These five Nodal
Agencies are:
1.National Prakrit Institute,
Shravanbelagola, Karnataka.
2.Bhogilal Leharchand Institute
of Indology, Delhi.
3.Satshrut Prabhavna Trust, Jaipur.
4.D.K.Jain Institute, Arrah, Bihar.
5.Kund Kund Jnanapith, Indore.
It was further decided in 2002 to adopt a
common software for listing annd cataloguing Jain Manuscripts. The work
pertaining to preparation of a common software was entrusted to National
Informatics Centre(NIC), New Delhi. After completion of the work of cataloguing
by the above-noted five agencies,which are also to act as resource centers, the
NIC was entrusted the job of preparing a website on Jain Manuscripts and to
upload the material.
